The Function Of The Lymph:
Is to carry white blood cells (Lymphocytes) for the immunity against infection and to carry cellular waste back into the blood stream for disposal.
There are two types of fluid in the body. One being blood and the other being Lymph Fluid. The Lymphatic system is the only way through which toxins can drain from the matrix of the body.
Very little material is transported through the vascular system, and if the lymph drainage is poo, more toxins will stay in the cellular matrix. Toxins can be hydrophilic, and cause water retention and matrix oedema which will be compounded if there is poor lymph drainage.
If it is expected that the toxicity has reached the matrix level, it needs to be addressed in a very specific manner. With mild toxicity it will suffice to increase the lymph drainage with certain supporting products, i.e. supplements and herbs. However with increased toxicity other supports may need to be used.
Exercise is vital in moving the lymph fluid through the body and one of the best forms of exercise is jumping on a mini trampoline. Or, bouncing up and down on the tips of your toes, supporting the body with your hands on a piece of furniture.
Another very useful; source of moving the lymph fluid through the body is dry brushing the skin in an upwards motion on the body daily prior to showering. Movements, from the feet upwards towards the heart for the best drainage.
LYMPHOEDEMA:
Is an accumulation of excess fluid and swelling of subcutaneous tissue, due to destruction of lymph vessels. This often occurs on the top surface of feet and hands in simple oedema.
THE LYMPH PUMP:
*Flows in the direction towards the heart.
*Pumping of Lymph occurs during exercise, breathing, massage, and bandaging.
*Lymph re –enters the blood stream at the junction of the internal jugular and subclavicular vein ( in the neck area).
VESSELS:
*Are under the skin
*Deep around the organs and along the front and back of the trunk area.
DISORDERS OF THE LYMPH:
Are caused by:
*Tissue trauma (sporting)
*Surgery (mastectomy, pelvic and liposuction.
*Heart Lung and Kidney conditions.
Lymphatic Massage/ Detox:
*Moves fluid through the tissue
*makes collecting Lymphatics pump more lymph
*Causes an increase in the capacity and number of collaterals.
Treatment lasts approx 1 ½ hours and specific aromatherapy oils such as carrot, black pepper and sweet fennel are used because of their diuretic properties.
L YMPHATIC MASSAGE IS:
*Good for general detox
*A gentle series of directional, segmented movements of light pressure.
*Highly effective in reducing oedema, And ....
*Provides permanent reduction of Oedema.
CONDITIONS BENEFITEDF BY LYMPHATIC MASSAGE:
Lymph Massage can increase lymph flow up to 25 times the usaual, helping to reduce....
*Post operational Oedema
*Bursitis, Dislocation, Whiplash
*Fibrositis and Tendonitis.
*Unexplained hand and foot swelling.
*Bed ridden patients and the aged...if immobile.
*Those on the verge of illness.
*Sports injuries.
*Is entirely safe and very effective for pregnancy
